Please drop-off or pick-up your pet at least 1/2 hour before closing time, (3:30 on Sat, 5:30 all other days).  This allows time for all in our care to settle in and relax.  The front office is closed for drop-offs and pick-ups on all major holidays.

What Vaccinations does my pet need?
For the health, safety, and welfare of all A Place for Pets Resort & Spa guests and staff we require the following:
  • Written proof of up-to-date vaccinations for dogs including
    • Rabies: Yearly or every three years
    • DHLP-P (Distemper/Parvo): Once per year
    • Bordetella (Canine Cough): Once every 6 months
  • Written proof of up-to-date vaccinations for cats including
    • Rabies: Yearly or every three years
    • FVRCP:  Once per year
    • Leukemia: Once every 12 months

Please have your veterinarian fax your pet’s vaccination records to us as soon as you make your reservation. Our fax number is 972-335-3167. Failure to provide written proof for required vaccinations will result in the denial or cancellation of all services.

What should I bring?
You may bring whatever makes your pet comfortable. Toys and bedding should be labeled and washable. However if you prefer we will provide your dog with a bed or blanket, toys and treats at no extra charge to you. Please limit the amount of items to three.  Please do not bring extra large or “couch” type beds.  *We are not responsible for lost or destroyed items.

Can I bring my pet’s food and treats?
Yes! In fact we recommend it! It’s always best to keep your pet on their regular diet and feeding schedule.  Please bring only the amount your dog will need, stored in an airtight container or zip lock plastic bag, and mark it appropriately with your dogs name and the serving size. We are unable to store large open bags of food so please bring an appropriate container. If your pet’s food needs to be refrigerated or heated, we can do both. If your pet requires a special diet, we will make sure that all your instructions are followed and documented.

What if my pet needs medication or has some health issues?
We can administer medication for your pet. We ask that you bring your medication in the original bottle, clearly marked with your pet’s name, and the exact instructions for when and how much to give.  Please contact us prior to boarding date to discuss your specific medication needs as we may recommend boarding with a Veterinarian or Pet Sitter as a better alternative.

We are not Vets.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. Although we adore the seniors, we are not equipped to care for senior non-ambulatory dogs comfortably.  If your pet has problems getting up and walking while in the comfort of his own home, he will be even more uncomfortable in a boarding situation.  A pet-sitter or another alternative would be a better choice.  All dogs must be able to stand,  and walk on their own accord, on a leash outside to our backyard and back.

2. For the well-being of your pet and our other guests please inform us of any condition upon making reservations  for boarding or grooming. This includes, skin issues, current wounds, previous surgeries, arthritis…etc.  Depending on the situation we may ask for a  letter from your Vet confirming your pet is not contagious and is healthy enough to thrive in a boarding or grooming situation.

3.  ALL dogs must be leashed when on our property.  For the safety of all, keep your dogs leashed when entering or leaving our building.

Can I stop by and look at your boarding facility?
Of course! Drop in anytime! A member of our staff will happily show you around and explain our services to you. In fact, we recommend you tour anywhere you’re thinking of leaving your precious pet. Out of respect for our boarding guests well-being and calm, there will be times we only allow customers to look through the very large picture window in the lobby.  Nap times, busy walking times, etc…Please do not bring your pet when coming to tour. Small children are never allowed in the kennel area.

How many times does my dog go outside a day?
We take each dog out for a potty break on leash twice daily, in the morning between 7:30 and 9:00 am and the evening between 5:00 and 6:30 pm. Your dog will receive one-on-one time with a kennel tech during this time, which we feel is safer and less stressful than letting groups of dogs out into a yard together.  We find this works quite well but if you feel your pet needs to go outside more often we offer extra potty breaks for a nominal fee. ($3.00)

Does my pet just sit in a cage all day?
No! At A Place for Pets Resort & Spa we wouldn’t hear of it! First of all we don’t have ANY “cages” and we NEVER crate dogs. Each run is separate, light and bright, open, airy and large. The staff remains in the kennel area, cleaning, freshening water bowls, giving treats, fluffing beds, etc the entire day.  We love our clients and make sure each and every animal gets hugs and cuddles throughout the day. We especially love to see them doggy smile!

Can I call and check on my pet?
Of course you can! We understand our client’s humans can be a little nervous and worried and we are happy to give you an up to the minute report on your precious one at any time. Please call us anytime at 972-377-3122 with any question or concern.
